Background:

India will host the FIFA Under 17 World Cup in 2017. It will be the first time the country hosts an event from the world football governing body. This is the third most important event of the FIFA calendar, with 24 countries playing 52 games in 6 venues across India. The FIFA Under 17 World Cup has been a key stepping stone in the careers of a large part of world football stars, among them 16 senior FIFA World Champions and will be the most important event ever to be hosted in Indian football history.

The tournament has a huge worldwide reach, with an estimated global audience from almost 200 different countries, which is a golden opportunity to show India throughout the world, its cities, culture and the capability of organizing an event of the highest standards.

The FIFA Under 17 World Cup will have a lasting influence in Indian Football, upgrading the infrastructure, setting up proper game operations standards and improving the overall quality of the game. Undoubtedly, the FIFA Under 17 World Cup India 2017 is primed to be a game changer for Indian Football.

Job Description:

This position will assist the LOC Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in managing all the medical services for all the stakeholder groups of the tournament. In order to fulfill this role, the person will assist the CMO to coordinate with the respective medical facilities in various host cities. The person would also assist the CMO to liaise between the government authorities and the LOC to ensure all FIFA medical guidelines are respected throughout the tournament. The person would also assist the FIFA medical department to implement the anti-doping program for the tournament.

This position must have a general understanding of medical requirements for a sport delegation, VIPs, spectator and workforce. This position should coordinate and follow up with the relevant hospitals, medical authorities, government bodies and FIFA medical department to assist the CMO in all matters pertaining to Medical matters during the tournament.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist the CMO to deliver medical services for all the stakeholder groups of the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 especially teams, VIPs and spectators.
  • Coordinate and assist the CMO to manage relationships with the relevant government authorities for all medical matters.
  • Assist the CMO to mange relationships with all the medical facilities in various host cities of the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017.
  • Follow up and coordinate with the medical and paramedic services during the tournament.
  • Assist the CMO and LOC Doping Control Officer to coordinate with respective anti-doping agencies and FIFA medical department to deliver the anti-doping program for the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017.
  • Liaise and follow up with FIFA medical department to ensure all FIFA medical guidelines are respected through the tournament.
  • Provide administrative support for all medical matters, including maintaining all relevant documentation, records, etc.
  • Assist in any other medical matters for the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017, as directed by the CMO.

 

 Personnel in Charge:

Will be agreed by the Tournament and Projects Directors and the Head of Competitions once this hiring process ends and there is a definite plan for this area.

Key Performance Indicators:

Will be communicated in due time in accordance with the goals established between FIFA and the LOC for the World Cup. The indicators will be calculated on the basis of the completion of all matters related with Medical and Anti-Doping Services, FIFA´s satisfaction with Medical and Anti-Doping Services and to ensure requirements met on a timely manner.

 

Candidate Profile:

  • Two (2) years experience in administration and coordination of medical services. No applications will be considered if this requirement is not met;
  • Experience in administration and coordination with hospitals, government agencies for international sports tournaments or leagues especially in football;
  • Demonstrated stakeholder relationship management and prior experience working with sporting delegations;
  • Ability to multitask, strong time management and organizational skills;
  • Ability to solve problems, negotiations and conflict resolutions;
  • Must demonstrate a flexible, “hands-on” approach to work – prepared to carry out duties in support of his/ her team at any time of the day;
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people in different roles, and be able to present a highly professional image, and command the respect of others;
  • Ability to multitask, strong time management and organisational skills;
  • High Level knowledge of Microsoft Office Platform, particularly Excel, Word and Powerpoint;
