Background: India will host the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017. It will be the first time the country hosts an event from the world football governing body. This is the third most important event of the FIFA calendar, with 24 countries playing 52 games in 6 venues across India. It has been a key stepping stone in the careers of a large part of world football stars, among them 16 senior World Champions and will be the most important event ever to be hosted in Indian football history.

 

The tournament has a huge worldwide reach, with an estimated global audience from almost 200 different countries, which is a golden opportunity to showcase India, its cities, culture and the capability of organizing an event of the highest standards, throughout the world.

 

The FIFA U-17 World Cup will have a lasting influence in Indian Football, upgrading the infrastructure, setting up proper game operations standards and improving the overall quality of the game. Undoubtedly, the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 is primed to be a game changer for Indian Football.

 

Job Description: This is a fixed term position involving various assignments and meaningful experience that is a useful addition to any individual’s professional aspirations. The Volunteer Venue Coordinator will be primarily responsible for supporting the Volunteers Venue Officer in providing project coordination and leadership to successfully implement the Volunteer Programme for the FIFA U17 World Cup India 2017. The selected candidates will perform their roles and responsibilities at the respective host venue.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  1. General

 

  • Support the Volunteer Venue Officer in overall implementation of the Volunteer Programme
  • Deliver a consistent volunteer program at the respective host city
  • Daily report to the Volunteer Venue Officer
  • Maintain the respective Host City Volunteer database
  • Liaise with the various functional areas of LOC FIFA U-17 World Cup to deliver an efficient and effective volunteer program
  • Ensure in coordination with the Volunteer Venue Officer that the volunteers and LOC adhere to the agreed terms and conditions of volunteer engagement
  • Support the Volunteer Venue Officer for the Accreditation process of the volunteers
  • Help document feedback of the Volunteer experience
  • Help document feedback from the head of functional areas on Volunteer performance
  • Assist in any other duties and responsibilities as assigned to him/her

 

  1. Tournament duration

 

  • Assist in preparing Volunteer work schedule
  • Maintenance and supervision of the Volunteer Centre at the Stadium
  • Assist in scoping all requirements for volunteers in terms of equipment, transport, catering etc. at each of the Host Venues
  • Official Adidas Volunteer Kit management and distribution
  • Volunteer allowance payments and daily meal distribution
  • Match day supervision

 

  1. Post Tournament

 

  • Distribution of appreciation certificates for all the Volunteers

 

Personnel in Charge: Will be agreed by the Project Manager & Volunteers Manager once this hiring process ends.

 

Candidate Profile:

 

  • Experience dealing with volunteering program for public and/or private organisations
  • Experience of working in sports events and knowledge of various functional areas of an international sports event is desired
  • Excellent communications and man management skills
  • Expertise in Google Docs is a must
  • Advance level in Microsoft Office Platforms, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Social media savvy, with knowledge and experience of working on social media activations, is a must
  • Understanding of the legal environment when working with people without receiving remuneration or a formal employment contract
  • Strong analytical capability
  • Proven capability to work under pressure in a team environment
  • Ability to think out of the box and work as per the stipulated timelines is a must
  • Experience with operations for sports leagues in India is desirable; including experience of working across all tournament functions including security, access control and accreditation, overlays/services, marketing/sponsorship, ticketing, branding, hospitality, match operations, transportation, logistics, medical, event insurance, etc.
  • Preference shall be given to candidates who have worked previously with operations with the league/club/franchise
