Manipur bagged their sixth Junior National Championship title for Girls drubbing Haryana 6-1 in the grand finale played today at Chandigarh here on Friday.
After going down in the finals of the last two editions of the tournament, Manipur girls broke their hoodoo to thrash Haryana with ease.
Rima Roy scored a fine hat-trick, while Beena Devi, Bindya Rani and Kamla Devi were the other scorers. Priti scored the only goal for the Haryana.
Haryana took a surprised lead in the 11th minute through Priti, while Rima Roy levelled the terms for Manipur in the 20th minute.
There was no stopping to Manipur after the first goal and went ahead in the match for the first time in the 47th minute with Beena Devi finding the back of the net.
Two minutes later, Bindya Rani took the match away from Haryana’s reach scoring the third goal, while Rima Roy completed her brace in the 61st minute.
Kamala Devi joined the part and scored the fifth goal in the 67th minute before Rima Roy put the final nail in Haryana’s coffin scoring her third and Manipur’s sixth goal.
