BRIEF HISTORY:

STATE BANK OF TRAVANCORE team was formed in the year 1986 and became an affiliated unit of the Kerala Football Association. The Management of SBT decided to form the team to promote the most popular game in the State of Kerala and to get the mileage for the institution through the popularity of the team.

 Our team reached the Trivandrum District Super league in the year 1993 after getting regular promotions from the lower division. By then SBT Management  started to recruit state level footballers to the team in sports quota. The team was later put under the control of SBT Sports Board which was formed in 1995. All the funding till date for the team is done by the Bank directly through the SBT Sports Board which is the department under the Head Office.

  Achievements of the club in various Leagues/Tournaments

i) Played in the National Football League (NFL) in 1999-2000, 2000-01 and 2005-06

II) Winners of 2^nd Division National Football League in 1998-99 and 2004-05

iii) Played in all major Bank tournaments like Federation Cup (Quarter Finalists in 1997), Durand Cup, IFA Shield and Rovers Cup

iv) Won many All India tournaments like Mammen Mappilai at Kottayam, Arlem Cup at Goa, Iron Ore Gold Cup at Rajhara and Municipal Golden trophy at Kollam etc., 

v) Won All India Inter Bank Championship many times

vi) Won Kerala State League Championship in 1996-97 and from 2000-01 to 2003-04 and 2006-07

Has contributed many talented players to the National Team like Jiju Jacob, J.O.Paul ancherry, v.p.shaji, FIROZ SHERIF, DHANESH.k.V, A. SUNIL KUMAR, VINU JOSE, ABDUL HAKKIM, K.AJAYAN & N.P.PRADEEP

SBT is a major contributor to the Kerala State team for Santosh Trophy ,all together 25 players have represented Kerala State team in Santosh trophy including winning teams of 1993 at Kochin 2001 at Mumbai and 2004 at New Delhi.

V.Sivakumar and S.Ignatious have captained the winning Kerala sides of 2001 and 2004 respectively.
