First Edition of the 2nd Division National Football League started in 1997- 98 in which Tollyganj Agragami finished First and ITI Bangalore finished Runners up. Two top teams of the Second Division National Football League were promoted each year to play in the First Division National Football League.

This year’s  ONGC 2nd Division League will be played from March to May 2008 at the venues chosen by the All India Football Federation.

 

The following twelve club teams have been selected to participate in the ONGC 2nd Division League 2008:

Mohammedan Sporting (West Bengal)

HAL Football Team(Karnataka)

Vasco SC Goa (Goa)

Chiragh United Football Club (West Bengal)

State Bank of Travancore (Kerala)

Mumbai FC (Maharashtra)

Pune FC (Maharashtra)

Osian’s New Delhi Heroes (Delhi)

Oil India Limited (Haryana)

Indian Bank (Tamilnadu)

ONGC Ltd (Maharashtra) and

Amity United Football Club (Haryana).

 

Round I : Twelve teams have been divided in two groups of six teams each.The six teams in each group will play among themselves (single leg) to decide the top three teams from each group.

Group A will be played in Pune and Group B matches will be played in Kolhapur.

Final Round will be played at Guwahati,Assam.

 

The teams placed 1st ,2nd & 3rd in Group A & Group B will qualify for the Final Round.

The six teams who qualify from the Round I will play in a single leg league at one venue in the Final Round.

The teams placed 1st ,2nd ,3rd & 4th in the Final Round will be promoted to the I League 2008-2009.
